R12 Basics SLA

Subledger Accounting
Subledger Accounting (SLA) is a new module in R12 which significantly enhances the accounting support across the E-Business Suite. Subledger Accounting includes new ledger support and enhances the legal entity and intercompany accounting features.

In R12 all accounting entries are generated and passed through Subledger Accounting instead of directly going to GL. This avoids huge amount of time spent on reconciliation since reconciliation is already done from Sub Ledger to General Ledger through SLA.

In R12, SLA provides the ability to retain the full link between transaction and accounting data for all modules, and thus allow auditability. The accounting entries that SLA creates are strongly tied to the underlying transactions.
How is the Accounting behaviour due to SLA in R12 Different from that in 11i?
Let us take the example of the Finance Module to understand the difference between the behaviour of SLA in r12 and base accounting in 11i We will take the example of 3 modules related to Oracle Projects and Financials (payables, receivables and projects).
